Tried everything to get to work - printer is connected  to wireless network, has latest HP Smart download and drivers, has had printer, router and laptop all rebooted.  HP Smart saying Printer setup incomplete but fails to say what needs to be done to complete setup.  Orange exclamation mark flashing.  Wireless network connected and working and test report says fine.  The whole point of having printer was that it was wireless connection.  "Printer setup Incomplete"  My time is worth more money than the cost of this printer.  I was a HP fan - no more.

Hi @MAW29,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I completely understand your frustration. You’ve done all the right things: rebooting, updating, checking the network, and using HP Smart. That flashing orange exclamation mark and “Printer Setup Incomplete” message usually means the printer is stuck in HP+ activation or Web Services setup, which is required for the HP LaserJet M110we to function wirelessly.

Let’s fix this step-by-step.

1. Make Sure HP+ Setup Was Completed

The M110we is an HP+ printer, which means:

  • It requires HP Smart for setup.
  • It must be connected to the internet and linked to an HP account.
  • If the setup is interrupted, the printer won’t function fully.

2. Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults

This clears any stuck setup state:

  1. Turn the printer on.
  2. Press and hold the Cancel (X) and Wireless buttons together for 10 seconds.
  3. Wait for the printer to restart and the Wi-Fi light to blinkThis means it’s in setup mode.

3. Re-add the Printer in HP Smart

  1. Open the HP Smart App.
  2. Click “+ Add Printer”.
  3. Select your printer from the list.
  4. Follow the prompts to:
    • Connect to Wi-Fi.
    • Sign in to your HP account.
    • Complete HP+ activation (even if you don’t use Instant Ink).

⚠️ If you skip any of these steps, the printer will remain in “Setup Incomplete” mode.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply .  Tried what was suggested: HP Smart took a couple of minutes with spinning circle and is now saying "Driver Unavailable"  not sure if this is because installed previously or why?..  I had  uninstalled the printer and HP Smart and have just reinstalled HP Smart, reset printer to factory settings. but I did not uninstall drivers as not sure where these were and what called and whether in fact these installed previously- did I just proceed to Printers & Scanners button and not see the Driver Unavailable message next to this(?).  App does seem to recognise that it is me so linking to HP.  What do I do next?  The Driver Unavailable message is not in bold flashing red letters so wonder if I missed this previously..

(My other printer HP Laserjet 1020 has been trouble free for 20+(?) year but not wireless)

Hi @MAW29,

Thanks for the detailed update. You’re doing all the right things, and I know how frustrating it is when the HP LaserJet M110we shows “Driver Unavailable” even after a clean reinstall. Let’s walk through the next steps to resolve this.

Steps to Fix It:

1. Uninstall Hidden Drivers

Let’s clean up any leftover drivers:

  • Open Device Manager (press Windows + X > Device Manager).
  • Expand Printers and Print queues.
  • Right-click on any entries related to HP LaserJet M110we and choose Uninstall device.
  • Go to View > Show hidden devices and repeat for any ghost entries.

2. Remove Old Printer Entries

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Remove any instance of the HP LaserJet M110we.

3. Reinstall Using HP App

⚠️ If the app still shows “Driver Unavailable,” it may be due to missing Windows components or a blocked installation.

4. Manually Install the Driver

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi

I opened my Bitdfender software and took down firewall.  Removed everything, reibooted,, reinstalled.  Driver apparently installed.  Great.  Next screen - install printer -setup not complete.   Still NOT WORKING. Put firewall back up.

Repeat everything with HP Easy start which went around in circles and still printer not working.

The wifi is connected - the printer tells me it is and gives correct wifi name, "wireless working Pass"  - but I am surprised I am not asked for my wifi password?  "Troubleshooting  - No problems found.  Congratulations on successfully setting up your HP wiereless printer"  What a joke -   PRINTER DOES NOT WORK and orange exclamation mark still flashing.  Now been trying for about a week to get a printer set up.  Windows 11 updates automatically and no known problems with this.

Maybe tomorrow I will get up the energy to try a manual install.  Trash collection was today so printer has another week to come good.

And final insult to injury - tried everything again and out of printer ink.   Let me just say I will not be investing in a new cartridge for a printer I could not get to work and would never go for instant ink subscription.  I also note that there is no stockist near me that stocks a W1420A cartridge.  Will try to give printer up for recycling if anyone will take and endeavour at some future point in time to get a wireless printer that works..
