Printer was working fine, suddenly one day it stopped. I changed the toner to an Original HP 106 Toner. But this did not fix the issue. I cleaned the contacts with Alcohol, and still no results. Power and Toner lights flashing consistently. Not sure what could be the issue as it was working OK a day before. Nothing changed or was done to it. I am stomped.

@Rammer-66, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Reinstall the Toner Carefully

Even if you’ve done this already, it's worth doing it again slowly with the following in mind:

Turn off the printer.

Open the toner access door.

Remove the toner cartridge.

Check for all protective covers or strips on the new toner (sometimes there’s a hidden orange strip or tab under the cartridge or on the imaging drum).

Reinsert the toner firmly until it clicks into place.

Close the door and turn the printer back on.

Let it warm up. If the Power + Toner light stays flashing, go to the next step.

Clean Toner Chip Contacts

Even with alcohol, make sure to do this precisely:

On the cartridge, find the gold or copper-colored chip (usually on the side or bottom).

Gently clean it with a lint-free cloth and 90%+ isopropyl alcohol.

Also clean the matching contacts inside the printer (where the chip meets the printer), using a cotton swab.

Try the Old Toner Cartridge

Even if it’s low or empty, try reinstalling the old toner that worked before. If the printer stops blinking and turns ready, it confirms the new cartridge is the issue.

Try Using the HP Smart App

Try installing and setting up the printer using the HP Smart App on your smartphone or PC.

Try a Factory Reset

Refer to this guide to factory default the printer: support.hp.com/hr-en/document/ish_9170867-9170913-16

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
