@PrachandPratap, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're encountering an error message:
"A problem occurred while preparing to install software on your system"
while trying to install the driver for your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 126nw on Windows 10 (64-bit).
Let’s walk through some steps to resolve this:
Uninstall Previous Driver Attempts
- Press Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl, and press Enter.
- Look for any HP LaserJet 126nw software or drivers.
- Right-click and Uninstall them.
- Restart your PC.
Download the Full Feature Software
Instead of using Windows Update or CD, download the latest driver directly from HP:
HP LaserJet Pro MFP M126nw Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support – Full Feature Software and Drivers
- Select Windows 10 (64-bit) if not auto-detected.
- Download the Full Software Solution.
- Right-click the downloaded file and select Run as Administrator.
Install in Compatibility Mode (if error persists)
If the error continues:
- Right-click the driver setup file.
- Select Properties > Compatibility tab.
- Check Run this program in compatibility mode for: and choose Windows 8.
- Click Apply and then OK.
- Run the installer again.
Temporarily Disable Antivirus/Firewall
Sometimes, security software can block installations.
- Temporarily disable any third-party antivirus or firewall.
- Try installing the driver again.
- Re-enable your security software after installation.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
