Hi @TadeusKoscusko

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I see you’ve already tried a number of login combinations and even gone as far as clearing the memory through tech mode, which shows you’ve been quite thorough in your approach. That’s helpful context.

To better understand the situation, could you share a bit more about what led you to attempt those particular steps? For example:

  • Were you prompted for credentials while trying to access a specific feature in the Embedded Web Server (like configuration or network settings)?
  • When you cleared all memory, was the goal to reset the device back to factory defaults so you could start fresh?
  • Did you notice if the printer displayed any messages about default credentials after the reset?

This will help clarify whether the issue is with the expected default login, a change in the device’s configuration, or something else entirely.

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye

Thank you for clarifying the steps you’ve already taken. Let’s go through this carefully so you can regain access to the Embedded Web Server (EWS) of your HP Laser MFP 137fnw.

When the printer is reset to factory defaults, the EWS credentials should also return to their default state. For this model, the expected default login is:

  • User ID: admin
  • Password: left blank

Since you’ve already tried that combination without success, here are the precise HP-recommended steps to ensure the reset was complete and to attempt login again:

Perform a full factory reset from the control panel:

  • On the printer’s control panel, press Menu.
  • Navigate to System Setup > Machine Setup > Clear Setting > All Settings.
  • Confirm the reset. The printer will restart.

Reconnect the printer to your network:

  • After reset, reconfigure the network connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
  • Ensure the printer is accessible on the same network as your computer.

Access the EWS again:

  • Open a browser and enter the printer’s IP address.
  • At the login screen, enter:
    • ID: admin
    • Password: leave blank

If login still fails:

  • Double-check that the reset was performed from the control panel (not only via tech mode).
  • Clear browser cache or try a different browser to rule out stored credentials interfering.
  • If the password prompt persists, it may indicate that the reset did not fully clear the administrator password. In that case, repeat the factory reset steps from the control panel.

This should help you get back to the default state and allow you to log in successfully.
