@terri232, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like your HP DeskJet 2755e printer has a driver issue that might be caused by a recent Windows update. Here are the steps to resolve this:
Uninstall All HP Printers and Drivers
To start clean, uninstall both the HP2700 and HPDE77D2 instances.
Open "Devices and Printers":
Press Windows + R, type control printers, and hit Enter.
Right-click HP2700 and HPDE77D2, then choose Remove device for both.
Open "Apps & Features":
Press Windows + I → go to Apps → Installed apps.
Uninstall anything named HP Smart, HP Print Driver, HP DeskJet, etc.
Reboot your system to clear all HP driver traces.
Reinstall the Printer Correctly
You have two options:
Option 1: Use HP Smart App (easiest)
Download HP Smart from: HP Smart
Open the app and click Set Up a New Printer.
Follow the prompts — HP Smart will automatically install the correct driver.
🔸 Make sure your printer is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi as your PC.
Option 2: Manually Install the Full Driver
If you prefer a manual installation:
Go to the official driver page:
HP DeskJet 2755e All-in-One Printer Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
Download the HP Easy Start or Full Feature Software and Drivers.
Run the installer and follow prompts.
Set the Printer as Default
After installation:
Go back to Devices and Printers.
Right-click on the newly added HP DeskJet 2755e.
Select Set as default printer.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

After spending hours and hours trying to fix this without any luck, you came to my rescue. At the very end when I chose "print test page" I was in shock to hear the printer start and print the page. Thank you so very much!

well - yes - I have run into a couple of hiccups. When I go to Printers and right click to use Preferences or Properties, a little circle appears and does not connect at all. And another thing that is interesting is that this printer shows it as the default but when I print, it uses my HP Laser. I would like the laser to be the default.

Hey @terri232,
Thank you for your response
For Preferences/Properties issue:
Try restarting the printer and your computer.
If that doesn't work, try reinstalling the printer driver or updating it.
For Default printer issue:
Go to Printers & Scanners.
Right-click on your desired default printer and select Set as default.
If it still prints to the HP Laser, check the print queue and make sure the correct printer is selected there before printing.
I hope this helps.
