Hi @SD246,

Thank you for your response,

Since you've already tried various power cords and outlets, along with a hard reset, here's a further step-by-step approach to address the power issue with your HP OfficeJet 3830.

Confirm Green Light on Power Module: Since you see a green light at the back, it indicates the power module is receiving power. If this light flickers or dims, it could suggest a power module issue. Consider replacing the power adapter if possible.

Check for Internal Hardware Issues:

  • Disconnect the printer and remove all attached cables.
  • Remove the ink cartridges, disconnect any USB or network cables.
  • Leave the printer disconnected for at least 30 minutes.
  • Reconnect only the power cord and try to power it on without cartridges or other cables attached.

Try a Different Power Cord: If you haven't already, use a compatible HP power cord from another working HP printer (if available) to ensure the issue isn't with the cord.

Inspect Printer Internally:

  • Open the printer to check for any debris or paper jams that might be causing the printer to not power on.
  • Check for any signs of burnt components or physical damage inside the printer, especially near the power connection.

Service Mode Attempt:

  • While unplugged, hold down the power button.
  • Keep holding it while plugging the printer back in. Release the button after 30 seconds to see if it enters any service mode or powers on.

Check for Overheating: If your printer was in a hot or confined area, it might have overheated. Let it cool down for a while before trying again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @SD246,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 3830 printer won't power on despite trying different power cords and outlets, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Check the Power Source: Make sure the outlet you are using is functional. You can test this by plugging in another device. If that device does not work, the outlet may be the issue.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Unplug the printer from the power outlet.
  • Hold the power button for about 30 seconds to discharge any remaining power.
  • Plug the printer back into a different outlet (if possible) and see if it powers on.

Inspect the Power Module: If the printer still does not turn on, the power module might be defective. Check the voltage information on the power module and ensure it matches the specifications required by your printer.

Look for Damage: Check for any visible damage on the power cord, power module, and printer itself. If you see any damage, you may need to replace the affected components.

Remove the Ink Cartridges: Sometimes, removing the ink cartridges and then trying to power on the printer can help reset the printer's internal electronics.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Tried everything and still will not power on. I did notice a small green light on in the back by where you plug in the power cord, but nothing on the front.
