Photosmart 5520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Photosmart 5520, s/n [personal info removed].  I purchased the printer from a private individual who bought it several years ago and never used it. It's in pristine condition, new-in-the-box with all original travel tape and packing in place.

Before sending me the printer the seller decided, on his own, to "test" the Setup Cartridges in another printer to see if the ink was still good.

The problem is that I cannot set up the printer.  It keeps asking me to install the Setup Cartridges.  It will NOT recognize the original setup cartridges.  I have tried the online method of removing the cartridges, removing the power card, restarting the printer -- this does nothing.  I cannot get past the "Install Setup Cartridges" screen.

1.  PLEASE CONFIRM THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO FIRST USING THE SETUP CARTRIDGES IN ANOTHER PRINTER.
2.  PLEASE SEND (IF IT EXISTS) A BYPASS, RESET, OR OTHER SOLUTION TO HELP ME SETUP THIS WONDERFUL NEW PRINTER.

Thanks

Hi @pacific_voyager,

We would have to perform an OOBE reset on the printer to bypass the error

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
