@ecimame, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to print in color from your Mac. To assist you better,

  • Which application are you trying to print from? Check the ink levels.
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
  • Try making a standalone copy in color from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Perform the steps mentioned in this document - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

Clean the ink cartridges and print a test page to check the result.

Check the print settings:

  1. Open a document, photo, or webpage, click File > Print to open the Print window.

  2. Make sure your printer is selected, and then click Show Details if it displays to access the print settings available for your printer.

    Print dialog with details shown

  3. Make sure the 'Black and white' box is not checked. Uncheck it.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

@ecimame

If you are able to print test pages in color, it means the printer hardware is working fine and this is a software issue.

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
  • Did you update the devices?

Install the printer using the AirPrint driver (recommended)

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

Note: Select "Bonjour multifunction" under kind while installing.

Try printing in color.

Keep me posted.

0-of course, all udpate have been done since March 2021.

(HP provide an update for the microcode of printer , and HP smart)

00- of course i have deleted the HP and insert the HP 5520. it doesn't change nothing (apparently)

All was fine before the security update !!!!!!

A-i try 2 applications to print pdf:

 -aperçu (from apple)

 -adobe

it seem that the quality may be not correct in selection ( how to do this if the selector doesn t propose to change this ? or to redone color ).

B- i try use wifi, it take time to wifi acces.

i use first my ipad to print, the color is ok, but the quality is not correct

 and

HP need to discuss and investigate why parameter aren't good for print, especially for color and how to ensure choice quality print and color selected.

Again, it appear after update security, many teams doesn t work together, and security may have the unexpected bug.

Again the issue come form udpate security !!!!!

how to fix this see with Apple dev.

(not sur that is issue is from driver but application and interface to realize the function)

D- i have also bought a new HP 6232, and there is the same case: no print with color ( all are in B & W)

see with apple for mac os  and security update (tier party)
