HP 5530 isn't recognized by windows 10

HP Recommended
HP 5530 Envy
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP 5530 Printer was working fine with a wireless connection until my most recent update of Windows 10.  Then it stopped being recognized.  I tried connecting it via USB and still it isn't recognized and listed in the Windows printer list.  I've tried running the Windows troubleshooter, uninstalling the HP drivers and using Windows built-in drivers, downloading and reinstalling the latest HP driver for the printer, all without success.  I have been able to connect the printer using my work computer running Windows 7.  What can I do to connect the printer to my home computer running Windows 10?

@EP7

Welcome to the HP support community.

Did you uninstall the printer from root level before installing the new driver?

If not, follow the below steps:-

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

Click here to download the driver.

I hope that helps.

@EP7 If a full feature driver from HP is not available for your printer, you must install the built-in print driver. A full feature driver for one or more Windows versions is not available for your printer, either from the CD that shipped with your printer or from the HP website.

   NOTE:

Where is the download button? The HP print driver is built into the Windows operating system or is installed through the Windows Update feature on your computer. You do not need to download anything from a website in order to print, scan, or fax.

See the Frequently asked questions in this document for additional information, including how to scan using this driver.

Thank you Riddle_Decipher for your response.

A full featured driver for my printer is available.  I've downloaded and installed it and then uninstalled it, and then reinstalled it.  None of this has made a difference because Windows does not appear to detect the printer in the first place.  It is not listed as a device in the windows Printers & scanners Settings page.

Since my printer isn't listed, I tried to  "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings" option and use the Windows built-in driver.  The instructions say to "Use an existing port (USB001: Virtual printer port for USB)".  No such port is listed as an existing port so I created one with this name.  I'm not certain I did this correctly.  I was then able to download an HP Envy 5540 driver (not the same as my HP Envy 5530 bu as close as I could find) and install it.  However, I still can't make a connection between my computer and the printer.  The printer remains undetected.

Is there anything else you suggest I try?  It seems no matter what printer driver I have installed, Windows does not detect my printer.

Create a TCP IP port:

1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)

2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right-click the printer and left-click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.

3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.

4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.

This video resource will show you how to do it:

Create & Use TCP IP port

Let me know if this helps.
