Hello, I am going to be giving away my HP smart tank 6001 printer, I used the panel to do a reset and I think it worked but I want to be sure that the printer doesn’t store any of my personal data before I give it away. Does anyone know if just doing the restore on the panel clears everything and nothing is stored? Thank you.

Hi @ashc85,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

When you perform a full reset on your HP Smart Tank 6001 printer using the panel, it should erase all of your personal data, including network configurations, saved settings, and usage logs. However, to ensure complete privacy before giving the printer away, follow these additional steps:

1. Factory Reset

  • The reset you've done via the panel likely restored the printer to its default factory settings.

2. Unlink from HP Account

  • If your printer was linked to an HP account (via HP Smart), ensure you remove it:
    • Log in to your HP Smart account.
    • Remove the printer from your account under "My Printers" or "Devices."

3. Delete Printing History

  • HP printers typically do not store detailed document data. However, they might have a job log:
    • Check the printer settings or embedded web server (EWS) for any job history and clear it.
    • Access EWS by entering the printer's IP address in a web browser (found via the printer's network menu).

I hope this helps.
