When I print, the extension arm doesn't come out so all of my papers I just printed end up on the floor.

Ok, are you saying that is the way it's designed? It doesn't automatically extend before the paper comes out like all of my other HP printers I have had before? 🤔

If you aren't saying that, is there a way to go into the settings and have it extend automatically? I've tried to look for it in the HP Smart app and the only settings close to it were size of tray.

So I am lost.

Thank you for the help.

Welcome to the HP Community --

Are you saying it is stuck?

You do have to manually pull it out -- it does not extend on its own.

Correct. I have to manually pull it out before printing so my papers don't end up everywhere.

OK.

Not stuck and unable to open

And

Manual extension works.

Not what you want, I guess, but it seems OK.

Tray extender is working as designed.

You are welcome.

There is no automatic extension option.

You have to pull out the pickup tray to use it.

I am sorry I am unable to make it clear.

Pull out the pickup tray when you want to use it.

It does not extend automatically - there is no magic or workaround.

I have an expensive OfficeJet Pro 9025 - really nice printer -- the paper pickup tray is not automatic.  The overall  tray and printer design is much nicer than on the inexpensive models  -- and the pickup tray does not extend until I click it to open.

Are all (HP) printers this way?  No idea.
