Hallo all,
Some advice please? I have had an HP Photosmart 7260 working fine for some years on my Windows7, but suddenly it's having a printing problem! Basically when instructing it to Print, it now simply whirs and sucks the paper is very SLOWLY and immediately rejects it.
Replace the paper and press Print a second time and it does the SAME thing again . HOWEVER if you put the paper back in again(third time) and press Print it pulls in the sheet and Prints fine!!! I have tried this several times now and it's consistant in operation.
I looked at trying to update the Driver, but only get on the internet 'offers' to 'sell' me a Driver! Not sure if that would be any help, so not keen pay and maybe be disappointed!
Has anyone else had such a problem please? Richard

Hi @Newbie-10,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're dealing with a printing issue that might be related to the paper feed mechanism or the printer driver. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.
Inspect the Paper Tray:
- Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the tray. Ensure it's not bent, curled, or damaged.
- Adjust the paper guides to fit the size of the paper you're using.
Clean the Rollers:
- Dust and debris on the rollers can cause feeding issues. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the access door and locate the rollers. Clean them with a lint-free cloth dampened with water.
Check for Obstructions:
- Look for any foreign objects, such as bits of paper or debris, inside the printer that may be causing the issue.
Update the Driver:
- While you mentioned encountering issues when trying to update the driver, it's essential to have the latest driver for your printer.
- Visit the official HP website (https://support.hp.com) to download and install the latest driver for your Photosmart 7260. Do not rely on third-party websites for drivers.
Printer Self-Test:
- Perform a self-test on the printer. This can often help identify if the issue is hardware-related.
- Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a self-test.
Paper Quality:
- Make sure you are using the correct type and quality of paper for your printer. Low-quality or damaged paper may cause feeding problems.
Printer Settings:
- Check the print settings in your computer's print dialog box. Ensure that the paper size and type settings match the actual paper loaded in the printer.
Remember to follow the printer manual and guidelines provided by HP for your specific printer model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you Alden4, I have started to follow your suggestions, but so far no luck! Still cannot update the Driver and although the Printer is still 'usable' as long as one feeds the paper in three times (!), I really would like to get rid of the problem. Finished cleaning rollers as directed and changed the paper grade, so moving onto your other suggestions today.,
Thanks, Richard

Hi again,
I tried that website, but they are only 'automated' help lines and I cannot find any more info. I did find that thyen Printer is no longer supported, and when I saught a 'Driver' the machine number/model did NOT come up as available,
Very disappointing as you can imagine, Richard
