I just purchased the HP 3702 from Costco
I connected the system to Ethernet for preliminary setup and everything seemed to work ok with the exception of the firmware update which just should a bar with 0% complete
I then setup a WiFi link which works in that I can print & scan
On trying to update the firmware I got a couldn’t connect to the network error
So I then loaded the HP Smart App which seemed to go ok, until I tried to find a way to update the firmware which took me back to the web page where I get the same network error
If I don’t get a response in the next couple of days i will return this and get an Epson printer
Thanks in advance for any help

Hi @Oldguy666,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
It sounds like you're experiencing issues with updating the firmware on your HP Smart Tank 7302 All-in-One printer. The firmware update process can sometimes be tricky, especially when switching between different network connections like Ethernet and Wi-Fi. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and successfully update the firmware:
1. Check Network Stability
- Ensure Stable Wi-Fi: Make sure that your printer is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. If the signal is weak, consider moving the printer closer to the router or using a stronger network.
- Switch Back to Ethernet: If possible, reconnect the printer to the Ethernet connection, as wired connections are often more stable for firmware updates.
2. Restart Printer and Network Devices
- Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Restart Router: Restart your Wi-Fi router to refresh the network connection.
- Check Network Connection: Ensure that the printer is correctly connected to the network by printing a network configuration page.
3. Use the HP Smart App for Firmware Update
- Open HP Smart App: Ensure the HP Smart App is up to date. Open the app on your device.
- Locate Firmware Update: In the app, go to the printer settings or scroll down to find an option like Advanced Settings or Printer Maintenance.
- Initiate Firmware Update: Look for the firmware update option and follow the prompts to start the update process.
4. Manually Download and Install Firmware
- Visit HP Support Website: Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
- Find Your Printer: Enter your printer model (HP Smart Tank 7302 All-in-One) and select your operating system.
- Download Firmware: Look for the firmware section and download the latest firmware update file.
- Install Firmware Manually: Run the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the firmware update on your printer.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Oldguy666,
5. Disable VPN/Firewall Temporarily
- If you're using a VPN or have a firewall enabled on your device, temporarily disable them as they can sometimes block the connection needed for the firmware update.
6. Use a Different Device
- Try Another Device: If possible, try updating the firmware using a different device, such as another computer, smartphone, or tablet. Sometimes, the issue may be specific to the device you're currently using.
7. Clear Cache and Reset Printer
- Clear Browser Cache: If you’re using a web page to update the firmware, clear your browser cache and cookies before attempting the update again.
- Reset Printer: Perform a factory reset on the printer to clear any network or configuration issues that might be causing the update problem. To reset:
- Go to the Setup menu on the printer's control panel.
- Select Printer Maintenance or Restore Factory Defaults.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue with the firmware update on your HP Smart Tank 7302 All-in-One printer.
If none of the above steps work, consider reaching out to HP Phone Support for assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
