I had an issue connecting the printer online, so I disconnected it and added it as a new device. After that, the app prompted me to go through the new installation instructions and would not let me proceed without completing each step, such as opening the ink cover and filling the ink tanks.

However, when I reached the step to install the printheads, the printer's carriage would not move into position and was completely locked. As a result, the printer became stuck on the message:

"Door Open. The cover or door must be closed to continue. Check that it is completely closed."

The printer does not provide any option on its display to move the carriage or access any other printer settings. I also do not see any option in the HP Smart app to either skip the installation process or move the carriage so I can complete the printhead installation.

I completely powered off the printer for five minutes and then restarted it, but the same issue occurred every time. The printer's display remained frozen on "HP software is setting up your printer," and the installation could not be completed.

If I leave the printer in this state, the display remains frozen on "HP software is setting up your printer," and I cannot access the printer's menu or any other functions.

Hi @Printer7602stuc

1. Open the paper tray, load some paper and close again.

2. Printer takes a page and prints an alignment page.

3. And then place the alignment page on the scanner glass.

4. And click the SCAN option in the printer display to complete printer installation.
