Hi @leenah89,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Resetting an HP printer can help resolve various issues. Here are the steps to perform a factory reset on an HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 printer.

Note: Performing a factory reset will erase all custom settings and return the printer to its default settings.

  • Turn off the Printer: Ensure that the printer is powered off. If it's on, press the power button to turn it off.
  • Disconnect Cables: Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer. If your printer is connected to a computer via USB, also disconnect the USB cable.
  • Wait: Wait for about 30 seconds to 1 minute to allow any residual power to drain from the printer.
  • Reconnect Power Cable: Plug the power cable back into the printer.
  • Press and Hold Cancel and Wireless Buttons: While holding down both the "Cancel" button and the "Wireless" button, press and hold the power button on the printer. Continue holding all three buttons for about 10 seconds. The printer should turn on.
  • Release Buttons: After 10 seconds, release all the buttons. The printer will start its initialization process. Wait for this process to complete. It may take a few minutes.
  • Alignment Page: Once the printer initializes, it may print an alignment page. Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the alignment process.
  • Test: After the factory reset is complete, your printer should be back to its default settings. You can now set it up as if it were a new printer.

Please note that performing a factory reset will erase any custom settings and configurations you had on the printer. You will need to set it up again, including connecting it to your Wi-Fi network if you were using wireless printing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
