HP 8020 constantly saying update error

Keep getting update errors. I have uninstalled the smart app from my MacBook and my iPhone and reinstalled on both. I have disconnected and reconnected my printer many, many times but it still fails to update the software. But the printer states it has the most up to date software and still says the update failed. This is very annoying for a 2yr old printer that I can’t print and I am paying for HP instant ink. I spoke to someone on the help desk but their fix obviously didn’t fix the issue. What is going on???
