Hello

 

I've got several configuration issues with the HP 8125e printer in a Linux Mint environment

 

FW of the printer is 6.23.5.6-202504071925.

It is configured with an Ethernet cable in a local network with DHCP

Linux Mint is Linux Mint 22.3 Zena up to date of patches with standard system packets CUPS (2.4.7.1.2.Ubuntu7.9) and HPLIP (3.23.12+dfsg0-0Ubuntu5)

 

Issue 1 : the printer says it shall install a FW update but once I accept, it never gets to the end of it.

Issue 2 : I can print but not scan. When trying to scan (with Xsane or with standard Mint scanning app, I get a message that printer can not load document from the automatic tray, whatever I configure (tray or top window) and wherever the paper is. 

Issue 3 : the printer is seen from CUPS but not from HPLIP. Whenever I try to install it on HPLIP it says it can not add it and that I should check my firewall. The same goes if I disable my firewall showing this is a misleading message.
