I am having two issues with my HP 8610 printer.  It all started after a print cartridge replacement.  After the replacement I started getting an error message about the print carriage being unable to move.  I took everything out, check for obstructions, and cleaned everything thoroughly.  Once completed, I reassembled everything again, but still had the same issue.  Nothing appears to be bent and everything appears to be installed correctly.  I read a few articles on the internet about this issue and was led to do a firmware update to resolve the issue.  When running the update, the printer alternately hangs on the "print carriage can't move" message and the spinning wheel saying the firmware upgrade is underway.

Has anyone else seen this issue?  If so, any suggestions would be appreciated.

@LuAnn_BFF, Welcome to HP Support Community!

The update may not be possible while the printer is in an error state.

If you have already performed the steps from the document 'Carriage Jam' or 'E3' Error Displays and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!
