HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer

Hello, I am looking for some help. I recently signed up for HP instant ink for HP 8620 all in one printer. I enabled the web services per their requirement and just received the first set of genuine cartridges. All cartridges are indicating they are damaged. Printer is running firmware FDP1CN2022AR. Any idea on how to fix. I tried putting in the original setup cartridges from HP and also aftermarket and still nothing. If anything, the aftermarket indicates only 3 of the cartridges are damaged (cyan is ok).

Hi @Potsman,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Deskjet Pro 8620 is displaying the message "A Cartridge Problem: One or more cartridges appear to be damaged," it could be due to a number of issues. Here are some possible solutions to the problem.

  • Check the cartridges: Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges. Check for any signs of damage such as dents, scratches or leakage. If you find any damage, replace the cartridge with a new one.
  •
  • Clean the cartridges: Sometimes the ink or dust on the cartridges can cause a problem. Try cleaning the cartridge with a soft cloth or cotton swab. Reinstall the cartridges and try printing again.
  •
  • Restart the printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix the issue. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  •
  • Update the printer firmware: Click here. Follow the instructions to update your printer's firmware.
  •
  • Reset the printer: If none of the above solutions work, try resetting the printer to its default settings. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to reset the printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you for taking the time to replay and all of your suggestions. Unfortunately, I have tried them all and nothing seems to work. I am on HP most recent version of firmware. Sadly now, I think the printer is ready for the grave as I now have a new issue where the message display is stuck on the cartridges appear to be damaged message and the print head carriage will not move and is stuck to the right side. the only option as well on the display is to go through the demo of how to remove cartridges. I have tried to manually pully the print head carriage to access the cartridges, but it will not budge. Have tried numerous resets and nothing is working. What do you think... is it done? these were also brand new instant ink cartridges just received and all 4 were showing as damaged.
