Product: HP officejet 8620

I tried a hard reset for my HP8620. When turn on, it asks for Setup cartridges that I do not posses any longer. I was given instructions on how to bypass that. HOwever, the instructions are to press the unlit back button 4 times to get to the set up menu. Although I was able to do this in the pst for other issues. this time the printer does not responds to that command. Is stuck in the screen where it requests to insert the setup cartridges, ( no matter how many times a reboot or unplug it and plug it back again) . Any suggestions on how to get to the set up menu differently?
