I have an HP 8702 printer. How do I downgrade the firmware? (HP updated it and now my ink cartridges are failing.

@FrustatedUser, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

There is no option to downgrade the firmware on the printer. Are you using non-HP ink cartridges?

What is the error?

A firmware update will not cause issues to the ink cartridges.

For now, kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - HP Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Well, that link sends me to a blank page.  I had no problems until HP updated the firmware on my printer. Suddenly the printer would not print or give me any indication of ink levels. So I ordered new non-hp ink. The printer just kept telling me to reinstall the cartridges.  So I ordered a second set from a different manufacturer. Same result.

I rechecked the link and it is working fine. Try with a different browser. HP does not recommend the use of non-HP ink cartridges. It may or may not work. It can damage the printhead of the printer.

If the issue persists, this could be a hardware issue. Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
