HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My old Win10 computer abruptly died, so I'm now setting up a Win 11 computer.
I used to use an HPScan.exe to do my scanning, as it also handled OCR and save to PDF.  It allowed setting up multiple profiles for where to put the scan, resolution, Output format, etc...
When I install the current Full Driver set - the only scanning I can find is very basic image scanning.

How can i get the Good and Useful scanning capabilities back?

Hi @CasaDelGato

Try to install the next software for your scanner:

Well... that installer can't find the printer.
It's on a wired network, and the computer can print to it.
I tried entering the IP address manually - which I got from the front panel of the printer.
It can't find it.

Hmm, and there doesn't seem to be any way of exiting the installer.  It just loops back to the "Connect the device" screen.
(wow, even right-click on the icon and "Close Window" didn't work.  I had to use Task Manager to kill it.)
Since this would be the 3rd version of the drivers I've attempted to install - how do I get rid of all of them and start over?

Ok, uninstalled EVERYTHING that was HP, and rebooted.
Tried installing the suggested webpack - still can't find the printer/scanner.
Installed the Print and Scan doctor, it found the printer just fine, and told me to install "HP Smart".
HP Smart did find the printer.  Print driver successfully installed.
HP Scan installer (which was still running, as it's impossible to quit it), still can't find the printer.  So I had it submit the error report - and it finally exited.

Then I restarted it.  Still can't find the 8740.
HP Smart, using it's extremely limited and basic scanning, works.

Hi @CasaDelGato

Ok, if that doesn´t work then try the next driver:
