Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After the latest Win10 update, the printer status remained "unknown" and could not be updated.  I removed the printer, added it back to the PC, but now the HP Smart App software demanded that it be reinstalled.  So I allowed this, and the software now demanded that I sign in to my HP account in order to do anything (including simply scanning).  The printer is connected to the PC via USB, so why this is necessary is beyond me.  But I allowed the sign in.  The software opened to a blank screen with no options.  So I uninstalled the app and the printer, reinstalled the printer and allowed it to reinstall the app.  The app functions, but demands that I sign in to HP or it will not work.

During app uninstallation I discovered around 6 additional HP apps that I never installed, all linked to various online accounts (Google drive, Dropbox, etc.) -- although I never directly installed these.  Very intrusive.

This app was not as functional as the older HP software (from my 7510 all-in-one) and this latest "update" has essentially ruined it.  I've relied on HP printers since 1993 (and have bought 2 HP laptops as well).  At this point I think I may never buy another HP product.

So ... Is there a way to use the app without having to sign in?

Hi @RJGnyc,

I'd like to help!

You will not be able to skip the sign-in option but try the below suggestions-

Install all the available Windows updates

If it is been a while since you updated your Windows, that is the main reason why Windows says your HP printer driver is unavailable. Here are the steps how to do a Windows Update to install all accessible operating system update.

If you are accessing Windows 10, then these steps are for you.

  1. Hit the Start menu and write an update. After that, click on the “Check for updates” option.
  2. Tap on the “Check for updates” option.
  3. After clicking on that option, Windows will install the updates automatically.
  4. When Windows completes all its updates, start your computer again and attempt to print a file to check if your printer works.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Uninstall the app and install the app from here -Software and drivers for HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-in-One Printer series

You may also install HP Easy Start ( you will find under software utility) to print from your computer-Software and drivers for HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-in-One Printer series

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
