I have recently installed a new HP magenta 963 cartridge. When I first installed the cartridge it was not recognised. However, after removing the cartridge and re-attaching it, it then worked. It has printed without issue on one occasion, but now the printer is stating the 'cartridge is missing or damaged'. I have attempted a hard reset (removed all cartridges, powered down the device and detached the mains plug), performed a cold reset from the printer screen menu and removed the magenta cartridge and cleaned the circuit connector with a lint free cloth, but nothing has worked. In fact, following the cold reset, I am unable even to connect to the printer from a computer, not am I able to get past the initial error screen on the printer?

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
It sounds like you’ve done a thorough job troubleshooting your HP OfficeJet Pro 9019. Here are some additional steps you can take to resolve the issue with the magenta cartridge:
1. Recheck Cartridge Installation
- Ensure that the magenta cartridge is seated correctly. Remove it and reseat it again, making sure it clicks into place.
2. Inspect Cartridge and Contacts
- Examine the cartridge for any visible damage or wear. Ensure that the electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer are clean and free of ink residue. Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to clean them if necessary.
3. Try a Different Cartridge
- If possible, test with another magenta cartridge (even if it's used) to see if the printer recognizes it. This will help determine if the cartridge itself is faulty.
4. Update Printer Firmware
- If you regain access to the printer settings, check for any firmware updates:
- Navigate to Settings on the printer screen.
- Look for Printer Maintenance or Update Firmware options.
5. Check Printer Settings
- Make sure the printer is set to recognize all installed cartridges correctly. You can access this through the printer menu.
6. Reset the Printer Again
- If you haven’t done this yet, perform a factory reset again:
- On the printer, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults. (Note: This may remove all network settings and require reconfiguration.)
7. Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Since you're having trouble connecting to your computer, try uninstalling the printer drivers from your computer and reinstalling them:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Remove the printer and then add it again.
8. Check for Hardware Issues
- If you’re still facing issues after all these steps, there may be a hardware issue with the printer itself. You might want to contact HP support for further diagnostics and repair options.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
