The other day, I wanted to shut down my printer. I called up the menu, and then held the power button long enough for the printer to start shutting down, but it failed to shut down.  I finally unplugged the power cord, waited a minute, then plugged it back in. It immediately started back up.  After it was running, I tried the same sequence with the power button but it still would not shut down.

Hi @shottsie,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP 9015e printer is experiencing a persistent issue with shutting down properly. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  • Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, firmware updates address bugs and issues like this one. You can typically check for firmware updates through the printer's settings menu or by visiting the HP support website.
  • Reset the Printer: Perform a full reset of the printer. This can often resolve various software glitches. To do this, locate the reset button on your printer (it might be a small hole that you need to press with a paperclip or similar tool) and follow the instructions in your printer's manual to perform a reset.
  • Check Power Settings: Review the printer's power settings to see if there are any options related to shutdown behavior. It's possible that there's a setting causing the printer to power back on immediately after being shut down.
  • Inspect for Physical Damage: Check the printer for any signs of physical damage or obstructions that might be interfering with the power button or internal components. Make sure all cables are securely connected.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue with your HP 9015e printer not shutting down properly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
