- HP 9020 printer places image incorrectly on 4 x 6 paper

I am using an HP9020 printer with a Windows 10 PC. Updated firmware and software, full install.
When I print a 4 x 6 photo on 4 x 6 paper, it fills the paper except for a blank 5/8 inch on the right. This happens consistently.
How can it be made to print a 4 x 6 inch image?
What are the exact settings? or is something else going on?
The image is 4 x 6 itself. I print from the HP Smart window and I use the landscape orientation and set the photo size and paper size to 4 x 6. I turn on borderless printing. For scaling, I set it to crop. Everything looks great in the print windows but the image printed by the printer is 5 3/8 by 4 inches.
By the way, on the reverse side of the photo, I get 4 ink streaks. I would like to stop this from happening.
This is a fairly new printer that otherwise performs well. I want to send it back at this point. How can this problem be fixed?

Remove Pixel to Print sample - Add Irfanview print size samples
Sounds like you are creating the job correctly -- naught has changed in that regard.
If it worked before, it should (I think) work now.
I've added an example of HP Smart photo print job setup for general comparison.

It would be unusual for the printer to be within its purchase return window or even still in Warranty.
That said, we don't know what you have nor do we decide or judge what people do.
If the printer is indeed still in Warranty and you believe the issue is mechanical, contact HP Support to submit an in-Warranty hardware repair request.

Thank you for the detailed reply. I found one discrepancy in the settings. For Photo size, I was using 4 x 6 instead of Full Page as shown in your example. When I made that change, the printer responded with a larger white space to the right--1 and 3/16 inches.
Do this help in unraveling and aligning all of the choices?
Thank you. Hope you can help.

You are welcome.
I cannot help directly -- you need to find the source of the odd printing issue.
Ideas...
If this is a new problem
and
If the printer mechanics are at fault, one or more of the troubleshooting tips should help sort it.
For example, "Unplug while on > wait > plug in (to wall outlet) > start Printer
The Reset procedure can flush out odd alignments that show up suddenly.
----------------------------------------------
You can try some different (smarter) printing software.
I edited my first post and added examples and a bit of "get started" help for Irfanview software.
Free -- I've been using Irfanview for years for printing, testing, and examples here in the Community.
Personal choice - don't use or do anything you don't want.
----------------------------------------------
The obvious - try a different photo that you know should print at 4x6 inches, borderless.
If the shape of the photo does not match the shape of the paper, there is only so much any software can do to correct.
You might have to hand crop / edit the shape of the photo so it matches the paper shape.
----------------------------------------------
HP Smart can crop a photo into several standard shapes.
HP Smart - Windows - Scan > Photo > IMPORT your Photo file > Edit > Crop > Select size or manual > Done
HP_Smart_Win_Scan_Edit_Image_Set_5
