I just set up a new HP 9025e, then went to print something from Adobe Reader. When I pressed the "Properties" button there, there's no option to select which Tray I want to use. The same problem appears with Excel. (But Hp Smart does see there are two trays, so that part of installation must have gone okay.)

What do I have to do so I can select which tray I want? Any advice will be much appreciated!

Welcome back to the HP Community Forum.

You are part way there --

Install the full driver printer software...

Printer Software - Full Feature Software

If you have not done so, consider

If the software is already installed and you want to "reinstall":

Uninstall the printer software from Programs and Features

Restart the computer and log in

Check that all the pieces of the printer software have been removed - if anything is deleted, Restart computer and log in

Next,

Download, Save, (then) Install new copy of the printer software

After the software in installed, Restart the computer and log in

I'm confused, Dragon-Fur. Are you telling me "HP Smart" can't handle letting me select which print tray I want to use with Excel or the Acrobat Reader or any other software?

HP Smart worked just fine for that purpose with my last printer (8740), so I don't understand why I don't see an option to select the printer tray now. Can anyone explain this to me? Please?

Sorry for the confusion - I am working fast and perhaps making too many assumptions.

Another try...

HP Smart - Windows - Application

HP Smart does not support printing Excel or accessing the Adobe Reader software.

The Full Feature Software / full driver printer software provides access to the full range of printer features.

The Full Feature Software / full driver printer software provides the foundation to install and use other print and scan software, for example, Office Word, Excel, and Adobe Reader DC.

If you are printing a PDF document in HP Smart, the additional setup information is provided in the More Settings sub menu.

Open HP Smart

Select to print PDF document >

Set the options on the main menu >

Open More Settings >

Select the Shortcut (along the top ribbon)

Select options for the job, including (as available) the available settings to select the Source (Tray).

Finer control over tray settings are defined available in EWS.
