Microsoft Windows 11

Another customer was told on this thread that his old 950C wasn't compatible with Windows 11:
Solved: HP DeskJet 950C - HP Support Community - 9286427

I couldn't reply on the thread but I sent a PM to the customer:

I've just seen your thread on driver for your HP950C printer - Windows told me I couldn't run the HP software on my new Windows 11 PC.  After reading the reply from HP, I concluded that I'd also have to buy a new printer.

I plugged the printer in anyway (for the first time on the new PC), and  headed over to  Printers & Scanners not expecting to see anything listed there.  I was surprised to see my 950C listed there - I still don't know how.

Again, not expecting much, I hit Print test page whereupon the printer did indeed print a test page.

Hi @Grandalf ,

Thank you for letting us know. It may have picked up a pre-installed compatible driver via plug and play service on your Windows 11 PC when connected via USB.

It's a perfect example of why it's sometimes worth trying the "plug and play" approach even after being told a device isn't supported!

In your case, plugging in the printer and checking the Printers & Scanners settings seems to have triggered Windows 11 to automatically find and install that compatible basic driver.

Please do not hesitate to contact us that you require any further assistance.
