My HP LaserJet MFP M140we is showing a solid blue Wi-Fi light and prints a network report stating:
‘A problem has occurred with your HP account and you will be unable to print unless the issue is resolved.’
The printer is connected to the Internet (IP 192.168.3.151) and appears in my HP Smart account, but it still won’t print.
Please how do I  re-link the HP+ activation for serial #[edited] on my account.

Hi @Don1238,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Your HP LaserJet MFP M140we is showing the HP+ account error because the printer is enrolled in HP+, which requires:

  • Active HP account
  • Internet connection
  • HP Original cartridges

If any of these conditions fail, the printer will block printing even if Wi-Fi is connected.

Why This Happens

  • HP+ uses cloud-based authentication. If your account is out of sync or your subscription has expired, the printer will show:

“A problem has occurred with your HP account, and you will be unable to print unless the issue is resolved.”

How to Fix It (Re-link HP+ Activation)

  1. Sign in to HP Smart
    • Open the HP Smart app on your PC or mobile.
    • Log in with the same HP account used for HP+ activation.

  2. Check HP+ Status
    • In HP Smart, go to Account → HP+ / Instant Ink.
    • Ensure your subscription is active and the printer is listed.

  3. Reconnect Printer
    • In HP Smart, remove the printer and add it again.
    • Make sure the printer is online and connected to your home Wi-Fi (not Wi-Fi Direct).

  4. Sync HP Account
    • On the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS):
      • Enter the IP address (192.168.3.151) in your browser.
      • Go to Web Services → HP Connected.
      • Sign in and refresh the connection.

  5. Update Firmware

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
