When adding a password on the administration page for my printer I entered a 34 character password and the field allowed it to be entered. The software then covertly trimmed my password to an unknown maximum allowed length without informing me it had done so (Nowhere on the Administration page does it state what the max length is and there is no software check or notification informing the user that they have entered an invalid length and their password has been trimmed).
After my 34 character password was accepted I attempted to login using it and was blocked and locked out.
After perusing the forums I found another customer had a similar experience and he thought the maximum allowed length is 16 characters. I resolved this issue by trimming my saved password to the first 16 characters, entered that password in the field and was able to gain access.
HP Your printers and toner are expensive and this is a bug that needs to be fixed. Do better!
