This is an HP all-in-One Envy 5532
Connected to Laptop with USB.
Went to HP site for printer drivers - installed the support program it correctly identified printer ... and showed a firmware update
Installed that ... so proves USB connection and internet is good.
Download competed and test page printed.
Now HP discovery tool fails to see any printer attached.
So I manually downloaded the previously identified driver package EN5530.exe
Remove USB cable and start software - Run it, starts OK, installs loads of s/ware then gets to point to plug in USB ...
I plug it in but it’s not detected .... the 'next' box stays greyed out.
Can someone assist how to get this installed?
Run again - exactly same ..... freezes at the end of blue progress bar
It’s a Dell E7240 Laptop running W10
I downloaded and installed Print and Scan Doctor 5.5
Ran this - did the search for products, it identified HP Envoy 5530 series
So selected that, it then started "communicating with HP Envoy 5530 series"
Progress bar went right through to almost the very end, and then just sat there - no error, nothing further, waited 20 mins - still nothing
Task Manager shows 0% CPU against it ... so assume failed.
Could not quit from it ... had to 'End Task'
Have uninstalled s/ware and started again.
Same each time I run install or Scan Print doctor same result

Let us try these steps:
Perform a clean reinstallation of pre-installed HP drivers
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
- Select your HP Printer
- Select Uninstall
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
- In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
- Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
- Click on the “Drivers” tab
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
- Select Ok
- Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
- Close Devices and Printers, restart the computer.
Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver.
Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.
Try printing.
Let me know how this goes.

@Argonaut, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps.
Did you perform a clean reinstallation of the printer driver during this process?
Also, check for any pending Windows update.
To isolate the issue, create a new user account on the computer and try installing the printer driver.
If the issue persists, install the printer using Windows built-in driver
Refer to this document to know how. Try printing.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

There was no previous install of the HP ENY 5532 this is the first time I have tried to set up this printer & Laptop.
Windows update was run so Laptop fully up to date.
I don't know how to do a clean reinstallation and assume not relevant as never been installed before.
So the install package won't install ... and HP diagnostics won't complete ..... I don't want to use standard Windows printer driver as want the full All-inOne capabilities, you need full software suite for that.
Happy to undertake any steps if you can suggest any.

The instructions are somewhat out of date
There is no 'Programs & Features' now the option is under 'Apps'
I removed HO ENVY entries
Also under 'Devices' I found printers and removed.
Other steps were OK ....
This time s/w has installed to the end and now works.
Thank you for your assistance.
