HP Photoshop C4700 Driver 3.3.2
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I'm running a new iMac with Catalina 10.15.2 on the same wi fi network as a late 2009 iMac running High Sierra 10.13.6.

The printer is connected to the 2009 iMac via a usb cable.

I set up printer sharing on both and can typically print from my new iMac to the printer only once before the printer goes offline. Then I have to go through a resetting routine on the 2009 iMac before I can print from the new iMac again.

I've tried everything, including downloading and installing the latest HP drivers on both iMacs, except Airprint since the HP C4700 isn't compatible.

@tpsuffield, Welcome to HP Support Community!

In this situation, I would suggest you connect the printer to the wireless router and wirelessly print from both your computers instead of USB sharing. You can add the printer on the computers using the HP Print Drivers.

You can download the printer driver from here.

To convert the USB to the wireless connection, refer to the document Changing from a USB to a Wireless Connection

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
