@Wasimraza, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Color Laser Jet MFP M281fdw!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Let’s troubleshoot this together and get it sorted!
Here are a few things to check:
Restart Everything – Power off your printer, computer, and router. Wait about a minute, then turn them back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can do wonders.
Check the Connection –
If you’re using Wi-Fi, ensure your printer and computer are on the same network.
If it’s a USB connection, try a different USB port or cable.
For network scanning, try scanning directly from the printer’s touchscreen: Scan > Computer > Select Your PC. If your computer isn't listed, the HP software may not be detecting it.
Update Drivers & Software – Visit HP's support page and download the latest HP Smart or Full Feature Software for your printer. This can fix compatibility issues.
Run HP Print & Scan Doctor – This free tool from HP can automatically detect and fix common scanning issues. You can download it here.
Check the Windows or macOS Settings –
On Windows: Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right-click your printer > Start Scan.
On Mac: Open Preview > File > Import from Scanner.
Firewall/Antivirus Interference – Sometimes, security software can block scanning. Try temporarily disabling it to see if scanning starts working.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
