Hi @jyftfytf,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to assist you.
You can print on transparency sheets with the HP Color Laser MFP 178nw. However, it's essential to use transparencies specifically designed for laser printers to avoid any issues.
However, the Media types supported by your printer are:
Plain, Light, Heavy, Extra Heavy, Colored, Preprinted, Recycle, Labels, Bond, Glossy
Proper Settings for Printing on Transparency:
Media Type: Set the media type to "Transparencies" or "Heavy Paper" in your printer settings. This will help the printer adjust the heat and toner application.
Paper Size: Make sure the size matches the transparency sheets you're using (e.g., Letter, A4).
Print Quality: Select a higher print quality option for better results.
Tray Selection: If you have a dedicated tray for heavier media, use that.
Orientation: Ensure the orientation is set correctly (portrait or landscape) based on your design.
Additional Tips:
- Run a test print on plain paper first to ensure everything is aligned correctly.
- Allow the transparency to cool down after printing before handling it, as the toner can smudge if touched immediately.

Thank you for the reply.
I actually tried to print on the transparency I've mentioned earlier with 'glossy' setting and what happened was that the media was melted inside and the printer needed to be repaired. What I read today is that the 'heavy' setting has a higher temperature then the glossy one, so I am not 100% sure this is correct.
Can you check again if this is the proper setting and I will not melt anything this time?

Hi @jyftfytf,
I am sorry to hear that you had to go through a repair after using the transperency media earlier.
As said earlier, the Media types supported by your printer are:
Plain, Light, Heavy, Extra Heavy, Colored, Preprinted, Recycle, Labels, Bond, Glossy.
Using of transperency media might again end up with the same results as the printer does not support tranperency media.
