I have been using this printer for years. It works wonderfully.
Windows 10 just did an update & the printer driver disappeared. I am using this printer with a HP Jet Direct J4135A usb card. Now no matter what I do or what driver I try to install or use, I keep getting the same error message.
The printer driver I am trying to use is upd-pcl6-x64-6.3.0.21178.exe . The printer driver shows up in settings & is the default one & it says everything is working properly.
Can you help me please? I don't want to have to go out and buy another printer.

Found the solution for anyone else that might have this problem.
Just right click on the printer icon in the device manager & select printer properties / advanced / driver & change the driver from HP Color LaserJet 4550 PCL6 Class to HP Color LaserJet 4550 PCL6 & click OK. That is all there is to it.
Now it will work with USB (HP Jet Direct J4135A Card) which is not supported, instead of just network supported.
