HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw

I have a HP Color LaserJet MFP M283fdw. I have had no problems till yesterday. When I send a doc to the printer, you can hear the printer begin to react then just stops. I have uninstalled/installed the printer, downloaded latest drivers, powered the printer and my computer off and back on, updated the operating system on my computer but have had no luck,

Hi @knobrien,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've already tried some key troubleshooting steps. Since the printer begins to react but then stops, there are a few additional things you can check:

  • Check Printer Queue: Sometimes print jobs get stuck in the queue. Open the printer queue on your computer to see if there are any jobs pending or stuck. Clear the queue if necessary.
  • Check Printer Status: Ensure there are no error messages or warning lights on the printer itself. Sometimes issues like paper jams or low toner can cause problems.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. You can usually find firmware updates on HP’s official website or through the HP Smart app. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Try a Different Document: Test printing a different document to see if the problem persists. Sometimes specific files can cause issues.
  • Network Connection: If the printer is networked, make sure it's properly connected to your network. You might want to print a network configuration page from the printer’s menu to check the network status.
  • Print from Another Device: Try printing from a different computer or device to determine if the issue is related to the original computer or the printer itself.
  • Reinstall Printer Software: Uninstall the printer software again, but this time also delete any remaining printer drivers or software from your system before reinstalling the latest version.
  • Reset Printer: As a last resort, you can try performing a factory reset on the printer. This option is usually available in the printer’s settings menu.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
