Hello!

The mfps turns off after the display turns off and does not respond to scan or print requests. It only helps to turn off the device and turn it on again.

Hello,

At first, we will start with a power supply reset of the printer to solve the issue.

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Before continuing, wait until the printer is idle and silent.
  3. Disconnect the USB cable from the back of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.
  4. With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  6. Plug the power cord into the outlet.
NOTE:  HP then recommends reconnecting the printer's power cord directly into a wall outlet.
  7. Reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer.
  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically make it.
It is possible that the printer goes through a warm-up cycle. It is also possible that the printer lights blink.
  9. Wait until the preheat cycle and until the printer is idle and silent before continuing.
  10. Print a calibration page, if prompted.
  11. If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the back of the product.
  12. Try to print and scan.

If the issue continues, please update the printer's firmware available through the following HP link: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/IPG/M177/HP_M177_FW_Update_20201012.exe.

The HP video below explains how to update the printer's firmware.

Dear,

I did all the recommendations, it did not help.
I can see the printer by IP, but the scan and print function does not work, as if the printer does not exist at all
When I start HP Scan, I get the error "Unable to communicate with the scanner" 😞

Dear All,

So what should I do with my printer? Is there really no solution?

Dear Mans,

I tried all the options you suggested: I go to the printer via IP, HP scan did not work, and does not work. It doesn't wake up when I run an HP scan. Recycle printer?

Problem still exists.
When the printer goes to sleep, it does not respond to the display, and pressing the Power button turns it off completely. In sleep mode, the On / Off button does not blink, it is constantly on. This is regardless of whether the software is installed or not.
I tried connecting it via Wi-Fi. The installer finds the printer by IP, installs, and then I get the error "Error connecting to the printer."

I tried to install the software on another computer, the same errors.
Maybe the problem is not in the computer, but in the printer itself? Let's try to install the previous firmware on the printer? Or is it currently running an older version and a newer one?
