My printer shows that it's download ready and that the firmware is corrupt. So I downloaded the corresponding firmware version from the HP website and when I try to send/install the firmware to the printer, the printer briefly runs a loading bar but then displays: "Fatal Error 52", and resets back to showing the Download Ready - FW corrupt message.

Hi @Locus23,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're encountering a persistent issue with updating the firmware on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw printer. The "Fatal Error 52" message typically indicates a problem with the firmware update process. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:
Verify Firmware Compatibility: Ensure that you've downloaded the correct firmware version for your printer model from the official HP website. Using an incorrect firmware version can cause compatibility issues.
Check File Integrity: Make sure that the firmware file you downloaded is not corrupted. You can try re-downloading the firmware file and verifying its integrity by checking its file size and comparing it to the size listed on the HP website. Also, check if there are any specific instructions provided by HP regarding firmware updates for your printer model.
USB Firmware Update: If you're trying to update the firmware over the network or wirelessly, consider using a USB connection instead. Sometimes, network or wireless updates can be interrupted, leading to firmware corruption. Transfer the firmware file to a USB drive, insert it into the printer, and initiate the firmware update from there.
Factory Reset: Perform a factory reset on your printer to clear any existing firmware or configuration issues. Keep in mind that this will reset all settings to their default values, so you may need to reconfigure the printer after the reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for the reply, but haven't been able to solve the issue. I verified firmware compatibility, checked file integrity and have been using a usb cable all along. I don't have the option of using a USB drive because the printer screen won't allow me to make any selection, and the printer won't allow me to run a factory reset either.
