Printer (HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw) is showing Resend Upgrade on the message panel. Tried downloading latest firmware update, still get message. Cannot print, copy, fax. Printer used to work flawlessly, now it is totally useless except as a dust collector /boat anchor. It has been several days now.
Printer is shared by several computers (3 macs, one of which runs windows). Also used by, several iPads and iPhones. All worked flawlessly until now. Guessing this was a push upgrade for the printer that went awry. Kinda sad that I can't do anything about it, everything I've tried (all the suggested solutions) has failed. One thing I will do - shut off Automatic Updates. Any suggestion/updates/rumors/gossip. Is anyone from HP monitoring this thread???

Hi @edwkny,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.

- We have to perform a Reset.
- The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.

Hi I have exactly the same issue for over a week now. Can you post the solution in a more public way? It looks like many customers experiencing the same problem.
Have to say it really sucks that a working printer all of sudden stopped working due to auto upgrade when you needed it the most. Someone at HP should apologize to the customers for this disastrous upgrade.

Andy -
So many customers are facing this same issue after you all pushed through an automatic update. We should not have to seek legal counsel for help on this. Please, can you ask your employer to fix the issue for us that they caused?
Regards,
Amber

Edit 07NOV2022: I was able to successfully upgrade to the 20221010 firmware and my printer is working again
I am also facing the same problem and looking for a solution. None of the functions (e.g. printing) work.
I can communicate with the printer via the HP Smart App, connected via USB.
Allow downgrades and allow updates are both 'Yes'.
I have run the firmware update several times (20220414).
I have also performed the reset, unplugged for 1+minutes and plugged back in, etc.

I also tried installing
but that didnt seem to 'take' because the printer still shows Firmware datecode of 20220414
