Hello, we have an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw in our company and we are having a problem with the message "drivers are not available" only on Windows laptops. On the MacBooks there is no such problem at all and we can install the printer normally. I tried various options that I found on the Internet to solve this problem but it did not help. Adding the device manually via Wi-Fi Direct or via IP address does not help. Maybe you have some other options to solve this problem? thank you

@OlegAdm, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It appears that you're experiencing difficulties with installing drivers for your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw on Windows laptops, while the MacBooks work fine. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Download the Latest Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support page for your printer model.
  • Search for the latest printer drivers for Windows. Download and install them.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. This utility can help diagnose and fix driver issues and connectivity problems with HP printers.

Manually Uninstall and Reinstall Drivers:

  • Open 'Device Manager' from the Control Panel.
  • Right-click on your printer under 'Printers' or 'Print queues' and select 'Uninstall device'.
  • After uninstalling, restart your laptop.
  • Reinstall the drivers downloaded from the HP website.

Check Windows Update:

  • Go to 'Settings' > 'Update & Security' and check for updates. Sometimes Windows Update can find and install the necessary drivers.

Verify Printer Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to the same network as your Windows laptop. This is especially important if you are using network-based features.
  • You can also try connecting the printer via USB to see if the driver installs correctly.

Network Configuration:

  • Make sure that there are no network configuration issues. Restart your router and printer to refresh connections.
  • Ensure that your firewall or security software is not blocking the printer installation process.

Install via Windows Built-in Printer Driver:

  • Go to 'Control Panel' > 'Devices and Printers'.
  • Click on 'Add a printer' and let Windows search for available printers.
  • If found, click on it and use the generic driver that Windows provides.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
