I recently installed the subject printer following the instructions of the HP setup app.  Subsequently, the printer only prints text, it will not print any images that are shown on the computer screen.

Hi @Molly_1999,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 2800e only prints text and not images, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

Troubleshooting Steps

Check Print Settings:

  • Ensure that your printer settings are configured to print both text and images.
  • On your computer, go to the print dialog box and check the print settings.
  • Make sure that the option for "Print in grayscale" or "Text only" is not selected.

Update Printer Driver:

  • Make sure you have the latest printer driver installed.
  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your HP DeskJet 2800e.
  • Install the updated driver and restart your computer.

Use HP Smart App:

  • If you are not already using it, try printing from the HP Smart app.
  • The app can help ensure that the printer settings are correct and that images are printed properly.

Print a Test Page:

  • Print a test page directly from the printer to see if it can print images.
  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup > Tools > Print Quality Report or Print Test Page.
  • Check if the test page includes any images or graphics.

Check Image File Format:

  • Ensure that the images you are trying to print are in a compatible file format (e.g., JPEG, PNG, PDF).
  • Some printers may have issues printing certain file types.

Try Different Applications:

  • Attempt to print the image from different applications (e.g., a web browser, photo viewer, word processor) to see if the issue is specific to one application.

Print from Another Device:

  • If possible, try printing the same images from another device (e.g., another computer, smartphone) to determine if the issue is with the printer or the original device.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date.
  • Visit the HP Support website to check for any available firmware updates for your printer model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
