HP DeskJet 2132 All in one printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My printer scans, copies, does test prints, but when I open Word and send a document to the printer it just sits and stares back at me like I didn't send anything.  Nothing goes into the print queue at all.

Things I've done to try to fix the printing issue are:

added it as a new printer (many times)

deleted and reloading the full software and drivers (many times)

updated all the softwares and driver softwares (many times)

changed out usb cable

switched the usb port to the printer to one I know that works

When I troubleshoot the printer it says to apply this fix:  Share the HP DJ 2130 series with the homegroup.  Okay, I've done that (previously) as admin and it doesn't fix the printing issue.  I'm on stand alone computer (not a network) so I'm not sure why it's asking me for this.

Is there something maybe in the printer properties area that I'm missing?  I've been wrestling this for a few days and it's pretty frustrating!  Your advice would be greatly appreciated if you've fixed a similar issue successfully.

Thank you ahead!

 Hi @firewoman6414,

I'd like to help!

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity

Download a special version of HP Print and Scan Doctor specifically created to help with printer offline conditions.

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  2. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
  3. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.
    • If your printer in not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.
    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  4. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.
  5. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

Use these tips and procedures to help troubleshoot and avoid USB connectivity issues.

  • Restart the printer and the computer: Restarting the computer and the printer can clear possible error conditions.

  • Reconnect the cable: Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable from the printer and the computer.

  • Connect to a different USB port: Connect the cable to a different USB port on the computer.

  • Disconnect from a USB hub or docking station: If you are using a USB hub or docking station, try connecting the cable directly to the computer.

  • Try a different USB cable: Use a different USB cable. HP supports USB cables less than 3 m (9 ft 10 in) in length.

  • Disconnect other USB devices: If you have several USB-connected devices, such as another printer, the computer might not have sufficient power supplied to the USB ports to detect all of them. Disconnect any other USB devices that are not in use.

NOTE:

Be sure that the printer is connected to a 2.0 USB port in the computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
