@Ed2212, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP DeskJet 2855/e Stuck in Setup Mode!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP DeskJet 2855/e printer is stuck in setup mode, here are steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

Check Connections: Ensure that all cables (power and USB) are properly connected. Sometimes if a cable is loose, it can cause communication errors.

Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

Replace the Cartridges: Ensure the ink cartridges are properly installed. Since they are setup cartridges, they need to be installed during the initial setup to help initialize the printer. Make sure they are correctly seated in their slots.

Wireless Setup: If your printer is supposed to connect via wireless, make sure to have your wireless network settings ready. You can usually set up wireless connections from the control panel or using the HP Smart app on your mobile device or computer.

Follow On-Screen Prompts: If your printer shows any messages, follow the prompts to complete setup tasks such as aligning cartridges or loading paper.

Use Firmware Update: Sometimes updating the firmware can resolve setup issues. Use the installation CD or go to the HP website to download and install the latest firmware for your printer.

Reset the Printer: If none of the above steps work, you can reset the printer to its factory settings:

  • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer simultaneously for 3 seconds.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
