I have two HP DeskJet 6988 printers connected by Ethernet (192.168.xxx.32 and 192.168.xxx.33). Printers are used daily by Windows XP & Windows 7 to print special sized paper - 6.75"x3.75" FiloFax & 6.75"x10.25" Filofax Tri-Flold. Ived used them since 2006ish.
This week I finally migrated to Windows 10 ver 1909. I tried to install the 6988 printers. Windows Update says try HP. HP says use Windows - a Catch-22.
There are a number of threads on the 6988 saying the same thing. Here's one:
This shows that as of Nov 2018 there were Windows 10 drivers for the DeskJet 6988. The solution was a private msg from Sandytechy20 who I assume solved the issue. The poster was running version 1803 and had drivers for the 6988. Then he did a reset in Nov 2018 and the drivers were gone.
Where do I get the DJ 6988 drivers? Does HP need to put them up on their 6988 page again?
Please, no "time to get a new printer" replies. The 6988 is the ONLY printer that I have found that can reliably print & duplex a FiloFax sheet 6.75" tall x 3.75" wide. I've tried others but they jam & fail to print. I have to get the 6988 working again.
Thanks all!

Welcome to HP support community.
If you have tried installing printer with Windows built in driver and still unable to print.
This might require remote access of the computer to fix the issue.
I request you to talk to HP support.
They might have multiple options to help you with this.
