Hello. I've had my Deskjet 1112 for years. Works via USB only and I never had any problems printing from it. Recently I've come to own a MacBook Air M1. I purchased a USB converter as the current ones on the MacBook are not suitable for the square USB. Solely with the intention to use it for my printer. The computer easily detects the printer and saves it and allows me to press print but nothing happens. I would remove it from my device, plug and unplug it, and turn it on and off, and no difference. I also downloaded the "hp smart" application on my computer but somehow the app can not recognize it. I would really be disappointed if it was an issue with the age of my printer a there is nothing wrong with it. Please offer some advice.

I found a solution. When adding a new printer there are three tabs at the bottom labeled "name", Location", and "use". When the printer is chosen it automatically chooses "Generic PCL Pinter" for the "use" tab. You can change that by choosing "select software". I chose the software "HP Deskjet 1010 series" since I thought mine fell under that category. Once selected, I added the printer to my computer and it started to print. I got this tip from this YouTube video: (below) at Time: 4:30. I also downloaded the software that was suggested in the video although I'm not sure it's necessary.
