Microsoft Windows XP

Hello Everybody,

I have been using my HP Deskjet 1515 All-In-One Printer **bleep** Scanner for more than five years. I had Windows XP SP3 32-bit installed on my Dell Vostro 410 MiniTower Desktop, and I had the "HP Deskjet 1515 Software" installed in the Program Files of the WinXP OS. Just three days ago, I formatted the Hard Disk using the Linux command dd; and then I  rewrote an MS-DOS disklabel to it; and then I created four primary partitions on it and installed Windows XP SP3 32-bit in the first partition. My Dell Vostro had been running WinXP for five years and I regularly used to take print outs and even used to "scan sheets to get their electronic copies" using the "HP Deskjet 1515 Software" installed in the Program Files of the WinXP OS. I chose to format the hard disk and to reinstall everything because the WinXP OS had been displaying Blue Screens Of Death very frequently due to a newly installed disk image mounting software, and this had been happening in an absolutely unpredictable manner. BSODs had been showing themselves up since a time certainly before Mar-29,2022. I've almost completed the format and reinstall process, and I have a very beautiful and stable system now: same as before, to wit "Windows XP SP3 32-bit installed on my Dell Vostro 410 MiniTower Desktop". Until now I have installed all software very perfectly, save for one single exception till this moment: the "HP Deskjet 1515 Software". The 92.5 MB setup file "HP Deskjet 1510 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers" that I can very easily download from the HP official website, shows an error. Kindly take a look at this screenshot:

I'll very earnestly be grateful if any of the good people here will care to guide me out of this "technical issue not yet familiar to me". It can be presumed (and that is exactly the truth) that I am a 34 year old pro computer user and have been playing with technology since 1994.

@theorist, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I see that you are not able to install the printer driver on the PC. That is the only driver available for this version of Win OS.

The issue/bug could be with the OS as well as it does not receive any updates now.

If the issue persists, Install the printer using Windows built-in driver

Refer to this document to know how. Try printing. Use Deskjet 990c driver if your printer is not listed.

Refer to this document HP printer setup (Windows built-in driver) for help.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
