Welcome to the HP User Community.

If reinstalling the full driver printer software does not work,

There might be pieces of a previous installation attempt "stuck" in one or more places.

Side Bar:

Make sure your printer is switched on, wireless on, plugged into a standard wall outlet (as opposed to a surge protector).

  • Uninstall the printer software from Programs and Features
  • Restart the computer and log in
  • Add Steps in the Check and Remove section shown later in this message
  • If any pieces are removed, Restart the computer and log in
  • Install a fresh copy of the Full Driver printer software.

Hello.
Thank you for the fast Response but I have already tried with some of the Steps listed however the HP Smart Software says always the Same:

- that the Scanner Driver is not found or that I should Update it to the latest version available.

That Issue I have only with Windows 11 but when I have installed the Software on Windows 10 everything worked.

Could it be that the Scanner driver for Windows 11 is missing in the Software HP Deskjet 2720?

Best Regards.

@Selmir021

You are welcome.

HP Smart is an application.  The application will not respond to the Check / Remove steps.

It is true that you can uninstall the HP Smart Application from Settings > Apps > Apps and Features

After doing so, Restart the computer and log in

"Get" a copy of the app from the  Microsoft Store

The image you posted in your first message indicates that you are trying to use the Printer Assistant.

The Printer Assistant and HP Scan are part of the Full Driver software.

The printer software is not the same thing as the HP Smart application.

The full driver is supported in Windows 11.

Yes, if the full driver printer software is not installed, it would be missing on your Windows 11 computer.

Yes, if there are bits of old software stuck in one or more places, the installation might fail.

Assuming you are still asking about the full driver software,

If a complete removal of the software from the computer did not fix the problem,

Consider / Try

  • Restart everything, including the router that controls the network, the printer, and the computer
  • Add the printer using TCP/IP
  • Change the printer connection type to TCP/IP
  • Reset the printer as described in Printer Turns Off Unexpectedly or Repeatedly > Step 2

Installation - Optional / Extras

Method – Add printer using TCP/IP

Please try adding the printer using the printer’s IP address

Find the IP Address of the printer on the Printer Control / Display Panel (touch Wireless button)

Control Panel > icon view Devices and Printers

Click in the top ribbon, Add a Printer

Wait till the menu starts…
Select / Click The printer that I want isn’t listed
Select / Click Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname

Select / Click Next
Device Type > Select in Drop-Down Menu:  TCP/IP Device

Hostname or IP Address > Enter the IP Address of the printer

(Skip Port Name)

Select / Click Next

Continue and answer prompts

OR

Method - Create TCP IP port

TCP/IP can resolve odd connection, scanning, and installation problems.

Create / Switch to a TCP/IP Port to facilitate communication and prevent ‘offline’ issues

How-to “Create TCP Port” Contributed by  greenturtle:

Find the printer's IPv4 address

Print a Configuration Page

OR

Tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address

Control Panel, from Devices and Printers

Right-Click the printer and Left-Click Printer Properties

Tab Ports

Click Add Port

Select Standard TCP/IP Port

Select New Port and follow the instructions

Type in the correct IP address for the printer

Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port within the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)
