HP DeskJet 2755e All-in-One Printer

My HP DeskJet 2755e will not wake from sleep mode without unplugging/plugging back in every time I need to print something.  It will not wake if I try to print something from my computer, and none of the buttons on the control panel of the printer respond when pressed.  The power light is on and the blue light showing it's connected to wireless is on.  The only thing that works is unplugging/plugging back in each and every time.   I have searched for a fix and every response from HP is to unplug/plug back in - but surely there is something better than having to do this every single time?  One would think that sleep mode will end when something is sent to the printer or a button pushed on the control panel. Appreciate any help you can provide.

p.s. Please don't respond with unplugging/plugging back in - I've obviously done that every time I need to print something. Thanks!

Hi @hl911,

Thank you for sharing the above information.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

To add additional information, I have used the HP Smart app to try and troubleshoot this issue.  I've ran the Diagnose and Fix tool as well as confirmed that all printer software is up to date.

Hi @Irwin6, please see my responses below:

- When was the last time your printer was working fine? I purchased this printer in November 2023 and it has never worked properly when it comes to waking from the sleep mode.  If I unplug it/plug it back in, it works fine.  But when it goes into sleep mode, it will not "wake up."

- Were there any changes made to your printer recently? No

- May I know which devices are you using to print eg: Windows PC, Mac, or Smartphone (Android or iPhone)? Windows PC and sometimes iPhone.

Hi - I followed the above steps and this appears to have solved the problem!  I let the printer sit overnight so that it went into sleep mode and this morning, I sent a test page to the printer and it woke up and printed.  Thanks so much for your assistance!
