Hi @JP_12,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP DeskJet 2827e printer is being recognized only as a scanner and not printing from your computer, even though it prints fine from your phone. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

a. Verify Printer Connection

If connected via USB, disconnect and reconnect the cable firmly to both the printer and the computer.

If using Wi-Fi, ensure your printer and computer are connected to the same network.

b. Remove and Reinstall Printer Drivers

Open Control Panel → Devices and Printers.

Right-click your HP DeskJet 2827e and select Remove device.

Go to Apps → Installed Apps and uninstall any existing HP Smart or HP driver software.

Restart your computer.

Reinstall the printer using HP Smart (available from the Microsoft Store or 123.hp.com).

c. Check Default Printer Settings

After reinstalling, open Control Panel → Devices and Printers.

Right-click the HP DeskJet 2820 series and choose Set as default printer.

Try printing a test page.

d. Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP’s official website.

Allow it to detect and fix any driver or communication issues automatically.

e. Check Print Spooler Service

Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.

Locate Print Spooler, right-click it, and select Restart.

Once restarted, try printing again.

f. Verify Windows Updates

Go to Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates and install any pending updates.

Restart your computer once updates are complete.

g. Test with Another USB Port or Cable (if USB connection)

Sometimes a faulty cable or USB port can cause the system to detect only partial functionality.

Try another port or cable and check if printing works.

I hope this helps.
