My HP Deskjet 4152e won't print. I have tried turning it off and on again. I added more black ink. I only print in black and white. The I button is blinking. When I press it it prints out a page fine and wastes ink and paper that says it's connected to the network and payment method need updating. Is there a way to bypass this? I don't want to be subscribed to an ink service as this is a printer at my work. My boss has already been purchasing ink. I really need this printer because I haven't been able to do my job. Please if anyone can help me because this is very frustrating and I don't want to buy one of your printers again. Thank you.

Hi @algdistributors ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the blinking "i" button on your HP DeskJet 4152e indicates an error or attention state. Here's how to troubleshoot:

1. Check the Printer Status

  • Paper Jam or Tray Issues: Ensure there’s no paper jam and that the paper tray is correctly loaded with paper.
  • Cartridge Errors: Open the cartridge access door and ensure the black ink cartridge is securely installed.

2. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

3. Check the Ink Cartridge

  • Since you added black ink, ensure the cartridge is properly seated.
  • Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.
  • If the cartridge is new but the issue persists, try reinserting it.

4. Print a Test Page

  • Manual Test Page: Hold the "i" button for 3-5 seconds to print a status or test page.
    • If the test page prints, the printer hardware is functional, and the issue may lie with the print settings or software.
  • If it does not print, the problem is likely with the cartridge or printer hardware.

5. Ensure Printer is Set to Black and White

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers (Windows 11: Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners).
  • Right-click your printer and select Printing Preferences.
  • Ensure the printer is set to Grayscale or Black and White.

6. Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver

  • Download the latest drivers for your HP DeskJet 4152e from the HP Support website.
  • Uninstall the current driver, then reinstall using the updated version.

7. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to identify and fix printer issues automatically.

Ignore or Bypass Instant Ink Prompts
  • If prompted about Instant Ink during setup, look for a "Skip" or "Not Now" option.
  • If there’s no option to skip, exit the setup and use the basic drivers for installation.
